During the 49ers’ Week 14 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, linebacker Fred Warner and wide receiver DK Metcalf got into a heated altercation. Despite the fact that both players’ emotions were obviously running high, Warner opted to remain composed once the game ended.
Metcalf eventually lost the game because he grabbed Warner’s facemask. Warner is hoping that in his next meeting with Metcalf, cooler heads will prevail because both the 49ers and Seahawks are in the NFC West. This is according to NBC Sports.
“I have no idea what transpired. He didn’t like it for some reason when I told him how good of a tackler he was. Warner remarked, “I suppose what happened, happened.” It’s regrettable. He needs to learn how to maintain his composure. We’re glad we survived the dub.
Late in the fourth quarter, Warner picked off Drew Lock, which led directly to Metcalf’s ejection. It proved to be the last straw, with San Francisco leading 28–16. Maybe Metcalf was just angry about his team’s defeat. Ultimately, Warner is only trying to profit from the win and isn’t taking his outburst seriously.
