Top prospect Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs will bat fourth in his debut Friday against the San Diego Padres. Bryant hit 43 home runs in the minors last season.

Scott Boras will never settle for less than his clients deserve. In fact, he frequently finds a method to obtain his clients more money than they expected.
That appears to be the case once more for Chicago Cubs free agent Cody Bellinger.
He signed a one-year prove-it agreement with the Cubs this summer and is now on the verge of receiving a $200-plus million contract that he was previously projected to receive before a difficult period with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Boras has defended his client Bellinger, claiming that his previous clients, Bryce Harper and Corey Seager, both improved after signing megadeals at the age of 25.

“What have they done since signing when they were 28? Harper improved. Seager’s performance has improved. It shows you that athletes who can do it at such a young age actually improve beyond what they did at a younger age once they’re healthy and back on the field.”

Boras appears to feel Bellinger can do the same thing as those two after earning large contracts. While that was once almost certain, the slugging left-hander has had a couple bad years in his career, raising concerns about his future.
In any case, Boras believes Bellinger deserves to be paid and has even stated his position on Seager’s free agency.
