For the majority of his recruiting process, Austin, Texas, Vandegrift 2024 offensive lineman Blake Frazier has been a well-known commodity. Over the years, the 260-pound, 6-foot-5 player’s profile had soared, garnering 25 offers, one of which came from Michigan.

Since he is the son of former Michigan Wolverine offensive lineman Steve Frazier, who played from 1995 to 1999, the Wolverines had an advantage in this recruiting class as they were his third scholarship offer and offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Sherrone Moore.

Moore prioritized him even though he was a legacy recruit because he was one of his first offers. After some consideration, Frazier would select his top five candidates from Michigan, Texas, LSU, Clemson, and Florida. Frazier committed in April, and even though he liked all of his finalists, the relationship he had with the Wolverine coaching staff and the school’s historic offensive line heritage was too strong to resist.

After the trip, Frazier told TMI, “It helped quite a bit.” “It was during the Maryland game that I was last in this area, and while my January was somewhat busy with recruiting, I found it interesting that Michigan was my third offer. Michigan showed me such incredible love before I ever played a down of varsity offensive line, and it’s really great that they were able to maintain that love throughout the entire process. I’ll just say that I had a great time during my visit.

This cycle, Michigan has been extremely fortunate to have a number of elite legacy prospects, such as Blake Frazier. But Sherrone Moore and team didn’t take this hiring lightly, and they performed a fantastic job of making him feel valued in Ann Arbor. At the next level, Frazier can play guard or tackle because of his positional flexibility.
