The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel has revealed the team for the impending T20 International (T20I) Series against South Africa. This important series, which takes place before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, will begin on Thursday, May 23, at the renowned Sabina Park. The team has been preparing for this thrilling and much awaited series with a training camp held at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
The interim captain for this series will be Brandon King, while the interim vice-captain will be Roston Chase, according to confirmation from the Selection Panel. King was injured and had to withdraw from the just finished Twenty20 tour to Nepal, where he was supposed to captain the West Indies A-Team. Chase was chosen in its place, and he later led the A-Team to victory over Nepal in the series.
If Sherfane Rutherford and Alzarri Joseph’s respective teams are unable to advance to the Indian Premier League (IPL) Final, they would be added to the team. Both Nicholas Pooran and Shai Hope were given time off for the series and will re-join the team on Monday, May 27, in Trinidad.
