Kylian Mbappe’s contract expires in the summer of 2022, and the French star was expected to join Real Madrid.

However, he made a last-minute decision to stay with PSG and signed a new contract that would have kept him there until 2024, with the option of an additional year until 2025 that he could only exercise. It has been reported that Liverpool has no intention of moving for Mbappe next summer.

When Mbappe notified PSG that he would not be using the extension, the club isolated him from the team, putting them at risk of losing the world’s most valuable player to a free transfer the next summer. This summer, his future came into sharper focus once more.

Sky Sport in Germany, however, claims that Mbappe—who was later reintegrated into PSG and has been a major player this season—won’t be going to Anfield.

This is true even though Liverpool has been connected to the 24-year-old in the past as they try to find a long-term Mohamed Salah substitute.

Reporter Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport continued, “We’ve had that confirmed clearly from Liverpool,” indicating that the rumors were “not hot.” That probably won’t work, Mbappe and Klopp.

The story goes on to say that even though his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2019, PSG is still at ease with his contractual status.

Whether they sign him in 2024 or 2025, Real Madrid—who believed they had done enough to sign Mbappe in 2022—remains the most likely destination for him.

After being kicked out of Luis Enrique’s team in the summer, Mbappe was made to train with a group of players known as the “undesirables”—guys PSG was seeking to cut loose—instead of joining the team on their preseason tour of Japan and South Korea.
