The Carolina Panthers might be approaching their franchise in a different way now that former head coach Frank Reich isn’t involved.
Sports Illustrated senior NFL reporter Albert Breer shared some information he’s heard about quarterback Bryce Young and the team’s coaching staff (or what’s left of it) in his Week 14 takeaways. Breer, following Carolina’s defeat by the New Orleans Saints, 28–6.
According to a report from Joe Person and Dianna Russini of The Athletic last week, there were people in the organization who thought Josh McCown and Reich, the former quarterback, “weren’t tough enough” on the 22-year-old rookie. Shortly after Reich’s dismissal on November 27, McCown, assistant head coach, and running backs coach Duce Staley were fired by interim head coach Chris Tabor.
But Young hasn’t exactly shown a lack of strength in accepting responsibility—he has frequently taken the fall for the offense’s continued problems.
In any case, after 14 grueling weeks, Brown, Young, and the rest of their unit continue to leave us with more questions than answers.
