Students at Rosemount High School were given a treat for the holidays on Friday afternoon.

Once Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins stepped onto the wooden floor of the packed arena, an already electrified crowd broke into the SKOL Chant.

Despite missing the whole season due to a torn Achilles sustained against Green Bay in Week 8, Cousins has continued to be involved in team meetings and the Twin Cities community.

The Irish boys cross country team’s longtime head coach, Chris Harder, shared a video of the event on X (previously Twitter).

Rosemount, the birthplace of his close friend and former Viking Tom Compton, has long been favored by Cousins.

Together with Tom and Tiffany Compton, Kirk and Julie Cousins generously contributed to a fundraising drive in 2019 to create Hope Fieldhouse, a nonprofit recreation center for the city.

“No inquiries. “Yeah, absolutely,” he replied. Compton described the donation made by Cousins this summer. “He immediately embraced the idea. I was somewhat taken aback. I anticipated that he would say, “Let me look at everything.”

Every year, Rosemount High School hosts a holiday assembly with a special visitor. When Vikings fullback C.J. Ham made a half-court shot five years ago, it generated a lot of attention.
