Cubs signed one of the best pitcher on the market with an interesting caveat

The Chicago Cubs, who were thought to be among the teams that would probably be active in the offseason, have been quiet and haven’t made any significant big additions just yet.
If they can sign one of the top players available, their summer can suddenly become quite different.
Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Juan Soto were passed over, thus the front office needs to do something special to support their claims of developing a contender right now.

Dealing with 2022 AL Cy Young runner-up Dylan Cease would act in that manner.
The prominent right-hander had almost three years in the Cubs organisation after being selected in the sixth round by them in 2014. In exchange for Jose Quintana, he was traded by Chicago to the Chicago White Sox along with Eloy Jimenez, Matt Rose, and Bryant Flete.
According to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, the Cubs should aim to acquire their previous draft pick in the offseason since it seems like the “most logical deal for both teams.”

The White Sox requested a deal from the Cincinnati Reds that includes their No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 overall prospects, according to a recent report by Jason Williams of The Cincinnati Enquirer. One is an infielder, and the other two are pitchers.
In exchange for that package, Chicago would probably have to give up pitcher Cade Horton, their No. 2 overall prospect, outfielder Owen Caissie, their No. 3 prospect, and pitcher Ben Brown, their No. 5 overall prospect.

Even though Cease still has two years left under club ownership, that is a significant deal to acquire him.
He would undoubtedly benefit the Cubs right away, starting as their ace for the following two seasons. However, they might have mortgaged the future with little to show for it if they can’t add more talent to this squad before making this big transaction.
