Dominick McKinley, a five-star Tennessee prospect finally arrives Vols Headquarters and Texas A&M recruit, has postponed his signing day until the following signing day period. McKinley is a defensive lineman from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. He weighs 280 pounds and is 6 feet 5 inches. Since September 1st, McKinley has been committed to Texas A&M; however, he will not sign a contract with the Aggies before time.
Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports has reported that McKinley has been in contact with numerous universities and intends to make an official visit to Tennessee in January. The official visit is scheduled to take place on January 20th, during the Alabama vs. Tennessee basketball game at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center.
Earlier in the month, defensive coordinator Tim Banks and defensive line coach Rodney Garner paid the five-star defensive lineman an in-home visit. In an interview with 247Sports, his mother was quite clear that he would not be signing his early signing day paperwork. While Tennessee is one of the teams who have him scheduled for a visit, they are not the only ones. LSU, his in-state university, has gotten in touch with him in an effort to schedule an official visit for January.
In this class, Tennessee already has a number of commits at the defensive line and edge spots. Jordan Ross, Kellen Lindstrom, Jamal Wallace, Jeremias Heard, Carson Gentle, and others are among the commits and signees; most of the commits, though, will probably play outside on the edge. McKinley has a lot of potential to clog the middle of the line by playing down the pipe. Tennessee will be in a better position to make a significant impression and try to sign a third five-star player if this recruiting continues longer.
