The Braves’ upcoming victory—their 103rd—would secure home field for the World Series, making them all but certain to end with the greatest record in Major League Baseball.
For most of the regular season, Atlanta has been the greatest baseball team. The Braves will be unhappy not to win the Commissioner’s Trophy once more, but they will have everything to play for in October as they look to win a second World Series in three years. However, Acuña is competing for a different prise. and it will most likely be his — the MVP of the National League, in recognition of his extraordinary season.
