CONGRATULATIONS: First-ever 40-homer, 70-steal season for a Braves superstar

During the Atlanta Braves’ 6-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Truist Park, where he drove in the game-winning run to give NL East winner Atlanta its 102nd win of 2023, Acuña achieved the milestone.
Ronald’s interpretation of history
Acuña had the best inning on Wednesday, the tenth. He singled to right field with one out in the bottom half of the inning to drive in the tying run, bringing the score to 5-5. Acuña advanced to second base on the first pitch to Ozzie Albies, the following hitter, and slid in safely just before the throw.

Following Albies’ game-winning single, Acuña lifted the base out of the infield and crossed across home plate, dealing a serious blow to the Cubs, who are now tied with the Miami Marlins for the third and final wild-card slot in the National League.

Atlanta is still hoping to tie the franchise record for most victories in a season with 106 games after its stunning comeback against Chicago. The Braves’ upcoming victory—their 103rd—would secure home field for the World Series, making them all but certain to end with the greatest record in Major League Baseball.

For most of the regular season, Atlanta has been the greatest baseball team. The Braves will be unhappy not to win the Commissioner’s Trophy once more, but they will have everything to play for in October as they look to win a second World Series in three years. However, Acuña is competing for a different prise. and it will most likely be his — the MVP of the National League, in recognition of his extraordinary season.
