Jim Harbaugh is being connected to NFL opportunities as Michigan gets ready for its College Football Playoff game against Alabama.
In fact, BetOnline has Harbaugh as the favorite to take over as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers after Brandon Staley was fired late last week.
The head coach of the Wolverines is now ranked +200, ahead of Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots (+300), Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions (+400), and Kellen Moore of the Chargers (+500) as the top prospects. For those who have never wagered before, a winning $100 stake on Harbaugh would bring in $200, while a winning $100 wager on Belichick would bring in $300.
While Harbaugh isn’t a lock to be the Chargers’ next head coach at +200, the odds do indicate an assumed 33.3 percent possibility that he will leave Ann Arbor for Los Angeles during the offseason. After winning his third straight Big Ten championship at his alma mater, the former NFL quarterback may have been lured to NFL jobs in the previous two offseasons. Additionally, the NCAA is still looking into Michigan for its alleged sign-stealing scheme, which has already resulted in a three-game suspension from the Big Ten. These factors may have contributed to the former quarterback’s willingness to make the jump.
