Washington is a defensive coach with a plethora of expertise.
It’s that time of year again: hiring season and coaching interviews. According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Chicago Bears have asked to speak with Eric Washington, the assistant head coach and defensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills, about filling the position of defensive coordinator.
As previously said, Washington has already had coaching experience with Chicago. Actually, he was employed as a defensive assistant in Chicago in 2008, and he was subsequently elevated to the position of defensive line coach in 2010.
After that, he worked as a defensive line coach for almost ten years with the Carolina Panthers, serving as defensive coordinator for the final two seasons, until joining head coach Sean McDermott’s staff in 2020. Washington was elevated to assistant head coach this past summer.
Regarding Washington’s overall role and impact with Buffalo, some Bills supporters appear to be divided, but given that Chicago recently hired a new offensive coordinator, it wouldn’t be shocking to observe a sense of urgency when it comes to
