Around 8:20 AM on Monday, Vols sophomore edge rusher James Pearce was detained during a traffic stop, according to a report published by Adam Sparks on Monday afternoon.

Pearce was reportedly pulled over on Monday morning on suspicion of speeding and operating a vehicle with a suspended license, according to Sparks’ report. According to Sparks, Pearce was arrested because he disobeyed police orders during the traffic encounter.

The Knoxville News Sentinel was informed by a Tennessee representative that they are aware of the situation and are seeking further details.

For the Vols in 2023, Pearce had a standout season with 24 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks.
