Anthony Rizzo, the first baseman for the New York Yankees, is scheduled to return to New York City on Monday night for more medical testing, according to YES Network’s Meredith Marakovits.
On August 3, more than two months after he most likely had a concussion, the Yankees placed Rizzo on the 10-day disabled list due to post-concussion syndrome.
Rizzo informed Marakovits that he felt like he was making progress and that on Monday, he had completed some light agility drills and treadmill walking at an incline. Rizzo stated that during his recuperation, the team’s physicians counselled him from leaping or jerking.

When Rizzo was attempting a pickoff throw and lunging back towards first base on May 28, right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. collided with him in the head. This is when the head injury occurred. After leaving the game, Rizzo missed the following three, but he finally came back to participate in 46 of the following 49 games.

The former three-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, one-time Silver Slugger, and one-time World Series champion Rizzo’s numbers fell off a cliff during the next two months. This season, he is hitting.244 with an OPS of.706. The 34-year-old is headed for his poorest season since he made his Padres debut in 2011.

Prior to the event, Rizzo had a.880 OPS, 32 RBI, 11 home runs, and a.304 batting average in 53 games. After the alleged injury, Rizzo appeared in 46 games and finished with a.172 average, one home run, nine RBI, and an.496 OPS.
During his rookie season with the Yankees, the veteran blasted 32 home runs with 75 RBI and a.817 OPS.
Since Rizzo went on the injured list, New York is 4-6, further sinking them to the bottom of the AL East. With 44 games remaining, the Yankees are 5.0 games out of the third and final AL Wild Card slot, and according to FanGraphs, they have a 5.9% chance of making the postseason.
