Overcoming the struggling Memphis Grizzlies, the Phoenix Suns improved to 12-8 on Saturday night.

With a strong third quarter effort led by Devin Booker, who returned after missing Friday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, the Suns defeated the Nuggets and ended a temporary two-game losing run.

From the competition last night, three things may be inferred:

Suns are Elite at Drawing Fouls

Phoenix shot 43 free throws last night behind an offensive attack that counteracted Memphis’ physicality at the point of attack with strong off-ball action and relentless attacking.

Devin Booker has simply mastered the ability to bait defenses into fouling, and knocked down all 13 of his attempts. Being a superstar doesn’t hurt the whistle either.

Grayson Allen took his surprising ability to attack the rim to a 6-for-6 showing at the free throw line in an otherwise quiet game offensively.

Josh Okogie was the only player to really struggle with making baskets at the line; he went 1 for 6 in those attempts.

Despite his difficulties with conversion, Okogie should be congratulated for his persistent efforts to make contact and reach the line.

Ultimately, Phoenix’s versatility in getting to the free throw line could prove to be very helpful when the playoffs roll around.

Drew Eubanks Remains a Powerhouse

Throughout the season, Drew Eubanks has been a consistent member of the rotation, although his play has recently been less significant.He demonstrated once more last night why the Suns were keen to trade Landale for Eubanks during the free agency period.

In 18 minutes of action, he blocked two shots, grabbed three boards, and got to the line once. Those are not exactly eye-popping stats.

Eubanks was a great deal when he signed on, and even if he just does the small things well, the seasoned big man will have an impact on games.

Durant Makes a Huge Comeback

Friday night, Kevin Durant surpassed all previous NBA scoring leaders with ten points, but he was unable to convert any of his ten field goal tries in the second half of a close defeat to Denver.

On Saturday, “Easy Money Sniper” made a huge comeback.

Durant played excellent defense the entire game, scoring 27 points on 71% shooting and dishing out five assists.

Throughout his career, Durant has consistently demonstrated that he can bounce back from difficult moments to become a Hall of Fame player quickly. Last night was no different.

The Suns are incredibly lucky to have one of the best basketball players of all time wearing the Phoenix colors every night.
