Paix has not participated in a first-grade game this season and was benched by the Broncos in the second half of the 2023 season as other dummy halves moved up in the depth chart.

Every week, the Broncos start Billy Walters in the number nine jumper. Tyson Smoothy plays as part of the 17, and Blake Mozer, a young player who has occasionally been called the second coming of Cameron Smith, is probably the next man up.

Paix is now fourth in line. Although he is capable of playing in both halves, it is obvious that he won’t since Jock Madden and Josh Rogers will be covering Ezra Mam and Adam Reynolds before him.

It’s evident that Paix has no genuine route to the first-grade side at Red Hill because the Broncos are moving in different directions.

However, News Corp. reports that there has been no bite from the Broncos, despite their attempts to shop him to other teams, including as the Gold Coast Titans.

Although the Gold Coast Titans have indicated they have enough dummy halves and the North Queensland Cowboys recently recruited Karl Lawton in place of Paix, Paix has little desire to leave Queensland.

With a year remaining on his contract with the Broncos, the utility player may end himself playing reserve grade unless things take a sharp turn for the better.
