Note: Star RB will be out for several weeks for the Colts

The news regarding star running back Jonathan Taylor was received by the Indianapolis Colts, and it was definitely not what they were hoping to hear.

Taylor is anticipated to miss at least the next two to three weeks due to surgery for his damaged thumb, according to information provided by team owner Jim Irsay to James Boyd of The Athletic on Tuesday.

Additionally, he could still be placed on injured reserve, which would require him to miss up to four weeks of work.

Indianapolis, which started the week with the seventh and last playoff berth in the AFC, has worked its way into the postseason picture. They play the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Tennessee Titans over the course of the following three weeks. Pittsburgh’s game, which is ranked third on that list, may be the most important one considering the AFC standings and the implications for future tiebreakers.

After missing the first four weeks of the season with an ankle injury, one of the top running backs in the NFL, Taylor, has gradually returned to his regular self over the last seven weeks.

Zack Moss is a very good running back option for the Colts in Taylor’s absence, but the team performs better with both of them in the lineup.

Together, they have ran for more than 400 yards this season, contributing to the Colts’ top-10 scoring offense in the NFL. They are sixth in the NFL with 24.5 points per contest.
