According to reports, the Bulldogs have approached Panthers premiership-winning flyer Taylan May to see if he would be interested in joining the Belmore team.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Bulldogs contacted May’s management to express their wish to sign him in the event that he decides to look into possibilities outside of Penrith.

The Bulldogs and Terrell, the brother of May and a forward for the Roosters who is ready to enter his final season, have previously discussed a possible move to Belmore as early as 2024.

May made his Panthers debut in 2021 and went on to score 16 tries in 21 games as he led the team to a premiership in 2022.

But he was sidelined for the entire 2023 World Club Challenge season due to an ACL injury, and Sunia Turuva, who replaced him at wing position at Penrith, won a third consecutive championship.

If May is genuinely interested in discussing his options, the Bulldogs would like to meet with him.

George Mimis, the manager of May, is scheduled to meet with Penrith the following week to talk about a possible extension with the reigning premiers.

Although Penrith is aware of the Bulldogs’ interest, they are certain that May won’t talk to the rival team until they have had a conversation with him about his future with the Panthers.

Both the Bulldogs and his current team, the Roosters, have offered offers to Terrell May, but he is holding off on making a decision until he sees what his younger brother Taylan does.

The two brothers aim to play together at one club in the future, as does their brother Tyrone May, a former utility for the Panthers who is currently making his living in the Super League.

Tyrone and the Bulldogs had a 2024 contract, but it fell through when the contract became public in the middle of the previous campaign.

After Jarome Luai defected to the Tigers in 2025, the Panthers had the money to keep May, but Mitch Kenny and Turuva also need to sign new contracts.

The NSW Government has released the plans for the new Penrith Stadium, which will feature a major expansion that would raise capacity to 25,000.

Due to the construction, BlueBet Stadium will close at the conclusion of the 2024 season in order to undergo renovations and reopen in time for the 2026 campaign.

All of the Panthers’ home games in 2025 are scheduled to take place at CommBank Stadium, the home field of the fiercely competitive Parramatta Eels, thirty minutes away.

The announcement of the stadium renovation was made by Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher at the team’s grand final festivities at BlueBet Stadium the morning following the team’s triumph against the Brisbane Broncos.

“We’ll play at home at CommBank Stadium for the entire year,” Fletcher said to the SMH on Monday after the Panthers won their third championship.

“For our fans, the closest arena is Parramatta. There won’t be any difficulties there because Parra and I get along great.

“When it was announced this morning, there were a few jeers (in the audience), but that’s our fans—that’s tribalism and emotion. Fans of Parra feel the same way about us.

The $309 million renovation will improve the customer experience by adding more food and beverage outlets and building a new western grandstand.

Four new locker rooms will be constructed as part of the player facilities upgrade, which the Panthers said in a press statement “will help grow representation in rugby league and other sporting codes.”

According to the press announcement, the renovation would “make the precinct a contemporary sports and entertainment venue.”

To establish a precinct that can be utilised for community, athletic, and entertainment activities, the training field adjacent to the stadium will also receive some renovations.
