Blake Corum now has the distinction of being the “Comeback Player of the Year” following his announcement last night at Michigan’s annual awards event as the team’s offensive player of the year. During the 2022 season, Corum was seen as a leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy.

However, in Week 11, he had a knee injury that ended his season. Corum was allowed to play in Week 1 of Michigan’s 2023 season after a few weeks of rehabilitation, and he has been instrumental in the Wolverines’ victories.

New York, New York — Blake Corum, a running back for the University of Michigan, was named one of the three winners of the Comeback Player of the Year award.

This announcement was made on Monday, December 18, by College Sports Communicators, in collaboration with the United Press and the Fiesta Bowl Organization. Running back Mike Hollins of Virginia and linebacker Jacob Dobbs of Holy Cross are also recipients in 2023, along with Corum.

Before missing the final three games of the team due to a late-season injury in 2022, Corum rushed for 1,463 yards and 19 touchdowns overall. Corum, a team captain, attacked physical therapy and rehab and returned healthy to start the 2023 season. Since then, he has been a major contributor to the Michigan offense, setting a single-season record with 1,028 running yards and 24 rushing touchdowns, which leads the FBS.
