April 1983-2024 May! Tigers Mourns An Icon Miguel Cabrera Who Passed Away @41 The Detroit Tigers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 13-0 in Phoenix on Friday, shaking off their previous offensive woes and led by five runs scored from Javier Baez and four from Kerry Carpenter.

The Tigers amassed 17 hits in the first game versus Arizona after suffering back-to-back shutout losses to the visiting Miami Marlins. Colt Keith, a rookie, contributed three runs, two RBIs, and a career-high four hits.

From the second to the sixth inning, Detroit scored one run or more in each of those innings. With a season-high run total, the Tigers featured multi-hit games from six different players.

Arizona suffered its first shutout loss since an 8-0 setback to the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 1. The team only managed three hits and no walks.

Starting pitcher for the Tigers, Tarik Skubal (6-0), struck out six batters while walking none throughout his six innings of work. The shutout was finished by Will Vest (one inning) and Joey Wentz (two innings).

Baez opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single. He came into the game on Friday batting.100 (4-for-40) in May. He then contributed to Detroit’s six-run fifth inning with a two-run double and again in the sixth.

Ryne Nelson (2-3) of Arizona struggled after a scoreless first inning. In four more innings, the right-hander struck out four batters while giving up eight runs on eleven hits and one walk.

Matt Bowman entered the game and the Tigers did not let up as the Arizona bullpen gave up five runs on six hits in two innings.

In the bottom of the eighth, Arizona had two runners in scoring position with a chance to score. In the bottom of the ninth, the Diamondbacks left a runner on second as well.
