The build to Money in the Bank, which included qualifying matches for the men’s and women’s ladder match and the next world heavyweight championship program, dominated Monday night’s Raw until the very end, when Uncle Howdy and his new group were introduced.
The main event of the evening was the return of Seth Rollins, who had been sidelined since he pulled double duty at WrestleMania XL to recover from a variety of injuries. Rollins made his comeback at the end of the show, and he exited the ring with a world title match against Damian Priest.
At the beginning of Raw, Seth Rollins made his comeback and declared his intention to reclaim the world heavyweight championship, which prompted Priest to enter the ring. Priest expressed his genuine happiness at seeing Rollins back and well, but he also cautioned Rollins that Priest was now in charge.
All of this culminated with Priest giving Rollins a chance to win the title at Money in the Bank and assuring him that this wasn’t a set-up where Judgment Day would jump him. Later in the evening, Rollins accepted, and the match was officially confirmed.
The arena’s lights went out following the main event, and then a door emerged on the ramp leading up to it. The camera then panned across the backstage area, introducing Uncle Howdy’s group of misfits one by one until finally cutting to Howdy himself. Backstage, they left a bloody scene where some members of the lineup were rendered comatose. After making the announcement “We’re here” and grabbing a lantern in the manner of Bray Wyatt, the gang ascended the entry ramp, and Howdy extinguished the light to conclude the performance.
In order to confront getting screwed by CM Punk at Clash at the Castle, Drew McIntyre entered the ring. Instead of providing specifics, McIntyre merely stated, “Fuck this corporation. I gave up.” Then McIntyre left, despite Pearce’s best efforts to stop him. Paul Levesque also tried to step in, but McIntyre simply walked off after restating his sincerity.
