She started dating Jimmy in the spring of 1976, and on December 11 of the same year, the couple was married. Together, the couple is parents to three children: Whitney, Cynthia, and James.

Throughout their lives, Dee and James were employed by their respective families’ enterprises. Nevertheless, the pair bought the Cleveland Browns in 2012, and they have shared ownership of the NFL team ever since.

He is wed to Susan ‘Dee’ Bagwell Haslam, the CEO of RIVR Media, a member of the Pilot family company, and a co-owner of the Browns and Crew. They are parents to three grown-up children and five grandchildren: Whitney Haslam Johnson, James Bagwell Haslam (adopted 2016), and Cynthia Haslam Arnholt.

In 1976, Haslam started working for Pilot Corporation. Haslam was appointed vice president of operations, development, and sales in 1980. Pilot ran 100 convenience outlets at the time, selling over 125 million gallons of fuel annually. Pilot established its first travel centre in 1981. By 1996, the firm had 96 travel centres, 50 convenience stores, and 1.2 billion gallon sales, the year Haslam was appointed president and chief executive officer. When Pilot Corporation merged with Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC to establish Pilot Travel Centres LLC in 2001, it achieved yet another significant milestone.
