Chris Beard's hiring, Flanigan's addition raises hopes for Ole Miss basketball season | AP News

Chris Beard, who recently concluded his first season as Ole Miss’ head coach, has being floated as an alternative to Eric Musselman at Arkansas. This week, Musselman left the Razorbacks to accept a position at USC.

Beard dispelled the rumors on Friday. On social media, he declared that he is “just getting started” at Oxford.

Beard played his freshman season at Ole Miss, finishing 20-12 overall and 7-11 in the SEC. Despite missing out on the NCAA Tournament, the Rebels’ performance was a huge improvement over their disastrous 12–21 campaign the year before.

In 2019, the 51-year-old led Texas Tech to the national championship game after being successful with other programs. Texas made a big hire when they hired him in 2021, but he was let go halfway through his second season due to a domestic abuse controversy.
