According to a report from Ian Rapoport of nfl.com, the head coach of the University of Michigan, who recently won a national title, is anticipated to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers this week. It is also said that Harbaugh is open to meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders.
After firing head coach Brandon Staley in December, the Chargers are now without a head coach. According to Rapoport’s story, Harbaugh has informed colleagues that “there’s a real possibility” he would leave Michigan to take a position with the Chargers.
With his leadership of the Wolverines to their first national title in the College Football Playoff era, Harbaugh has emerged as one of the most sought-after coaching prospects. Over the last three seasons at Michigan, Harbaugh has amassed an impressive record of 40-3, three Big Ten titles, three College Football Playoff appearances, and one national championship.
With the San Francisco 49ers, Harbaugh enjoyed similar success as an NFL coach, going 44-19-1 in four seasons. Under Harbaugh’s direction, the 49ers advanced to Super Bowl 47 and made consecutive visits to the NFC Championship games.
Over the last three seasons, Harbaugh has apparently entertained the idea of joining the NFL. Two years ago, he reportedly travelled to Minnesota for an interview regarding the head coaching position with the Vikings.
