Via the transfer portal, the Tennessee Volunteers might be about to receive a significant upgrade.

There have been rumours for weeks now that former LSU offensive tackle Zalance Heard would be moving to Rocky Top. It is now “expected,” according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, that Heard will transfer to Tennessee.

According to sources close to @247sports, Lance Heard, a five-star offensive tackle from LSU, is expected to transfer to Tennessee. The Vols were previously in a great position with the top-15 overall recruit in the Class of 2023, as noted by @SWiltfong247.

The Vols would be really lucky to acquire Heard. According to the transfer portal, the tackle is ranked as the 18th best player overall. In the portal, Heard is ranked as the third player who hasn’t committed yet.

Heard chose the LSU Tigers over Nebraska, Baylor, Colorado, and other schools despite ranking among the top-15 overall recruits in the 2023 class.

The former top prospect fared admirably at right tackle in 12 games for the Tigers in 2023. The tackle’s decision to transfer was apparently influenced by his alleged dissatisfaction at not being able to play on the left side.

Marcus Harris, a four-star wide receiver out of Mater Dei, has been the focus of much national attention in recent weeks. Although he is at a critical point in his recruitment process, the brilliant target is keeping an open mind. He has scheduled three junior day trips with interest-based programmes and worked with On3’s Chad Simmons to confirm the timetable. This coming weekend, he will visit Knoxville, Tennessee; on January 27, he will go to the University of Miami; and on February 3, he will make a third journey to Alabama.

Based on 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, the gifted pass catcher is ranked No. 85 in the 2025 cycle. During his junior season, he caught 43 receptions for 644 yards and six touchdowns for Mater Dei High School. The 5-11.5, 180-pound player has never been to Knoxville, Tennessee, so the coaching staff may have a great chance with him. The biggest impression Harris has had so far is from the Texas Longhorns, something he mentioned to Simmons during a recent unofficial visit.

“The atmosphere is fantastic, in my opinion. When I finally got to see the crowd, they were incredible. They genuinely adore this squad. Seeing the stadium full of people was a pleasant sight. There was a lot of noise. My mom’s first visit to the school and her first meeting with the coaches were two of my favourite moments. Seeing how the receivers are employed in the passing game was another.” – Marcus Harris to On3’s Chad Simmons about Texas.
