Trade Lands 49ers All-Pro for Third Round Pick in Hypothetical Commanders

Dan Quinn took over as the Washington Commanders’ new head coach, and his defence ought to get better. The NFL Scouting Department at Bleacher Report states that they would like to trade for Charvarius Ward despite there being other players with similar names available on the trade block and in the free agency market this offseason.

Quinn spent three seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, when he placed seventh in the league in terms of yards and points. With ninety-three forced turnovers over that time, the Cowboys also had the most. In the Bleacher Report deal scenario, Ward would be traded by the 49ers in exchange for a third-round selection.

“Backend assistance is needed for the commander’s defence. The 49ers, who have a precarious cap situation, traded Washington their third-round pick in 2024 in exchange for Young. It might be a victory for both teams if the Commanders could return their third-round pick to the 49ers in exchange for Ward.

“Is San Francisco planning to relocate Ward? Definitely not. In 2023, he was the team’s top cover corner, allowing an opponent’s passer rating of just 64.5 in coverage. He will, however, have a $17.9 million cap hit as he approaches the last year of his contract.
