Monday, January 8, is the opening kickoff for the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship at Houston’s NRG Stadium. College football has claimed the second Monday in January since the CFP was established in 2014, and this year is no exception.
The No. 1 Michigan Wolverines and No. 2 Washington Huskies will face off in Houston at 6:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.

The game kicks off at 4:30 p.m. PST for supporters in Seattle and 7:30 p.m. EST for those watching from Ann Arbour, Michigan.

Regardless of location, the CFP title game has always kicked off between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. CST. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks faced off in a game that started at 7:30 p.m. CST in 2015 and was held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The previous time the championship game was played between schools located more than one time zone away was between Oregon and Ohio State, so Washington and Michigan supporters watching at home may have a little different experience.

To be ready for a late afternoon kickoff, supporters of the Huskies will have to hope they can make it home or to a location broadcasting the game early. West Coast fans are returning to early games after last week’s Sugar Bowl, which lasted until late in the evening.

Michigan fans will have a little more leeway. The Wolverines are back in prime time for one of the biggest games in programme history following an afternoon Rose Bowl.
