Myles Lorenz Garrett, an American football defensive end for the National Football League (NFL) Cleveland Browns, was born on December 29, 1995. He attended Texas A&M to play collegiate football, where he was named a unanimous All-American in 2016. In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Browns selected him first overall. In addition to being selected to three first-team All-Pro teams and five Pro Bowls, Garrett was awarded Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.

Garrett was a letterman in football, basketball, and track at Arlington, Texas’ Martin High School. In football, he finished as a senior with 19.5 sacks[1] and won the Landry Award in 2013, which is presented to the best high school player in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.[2] The Rivals.com recruiting network rated Garrett as a five-star prospect and the second-best overall talent in his class.In October 2013, he made the commitment to play football for Texas A&M University.[4] He qualified for the state meet in track and field by throwing a discus throw of 50.84 metres and a shot put of 16.01 metres, respectively.

Garrett was the #2 overall prospect in the country when he enrolled at Texas A&M.[6] In just six games as a true freshman in 2014, Garrett surpassed Texas A&M’s record of 5.5 freshman sacks.[7][8] He surpassed Jadeveon Clowney’s Southeastern Conference (SEC) freshman sack record of eight in just nine games.[9] Garrett recorded 53 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hurries, 11.5 sacks (second in the SEC), and a blocked kick (which teammate Deshazor Everett returned for a touchdown against Auburn) towards the end of the season.[7][6][10] According to USA Today, he was a unanimous choice for Freshman All-American and Freshman All-SEC.[11][12] Garrett revealed following the season that he would have surgery to fix his hand’s damaged ligaments, which were sustained in the sixth game of
