The Chiefs’ Super Bowl berth is marked with the fingerprints of former Bears……..

First appeared on NBC Sports Chicago, “Former Bears have their fingerprints on the Chiefs Super Bowl berth.”

The Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl this season on Sunday and will take on the winner of the 49ers-Lions game later that day. However, former Bears players and coaches contributed to the Chiefs’ victory.

These individuals, along with other former Bears players who are still in the playoffs, had their fingerprints all over the game.

From 2018 to 21, Nagy, 45, led the Bears as their head coach. In 2018, he was named the NFL’s Coach of the Year after leading the Bears to a 12-4 regular season record with the league’s top defence.

However, the Bears and general manager Ryan Pace were let go by the organisation following two seasons in which the team finished at around.500. With the Kansas City Chiefs, Nagy’s home team, he found success.

Alongside Patrick Mahomes, Nagy was appointed senior assistant and quarterbacks coach in 2022. He was elevated to offensive coordinator for this season; he previously held that role from 2016 to 2017.

Against the Ravens, who were the best defence in the regular season, the Chiefs scored 17 points. With 11 receptions for 116 yards, Travis Kelce led the club. Mahomes completed 241 yards of passing for Kelce, including one touchdown.

In the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Bears selected Bush, 30, in the draft. He played safety and reserve defensive back for six seasons in Chicago.

Bush concluded 79 games with the Bears with 73 tackles, 16 assists, one sack, and three interceptions.

Bush joined the Chiefs in 2022 and alternated between the practice squad and the team’s main roster. He appeared in six games during the regular season for the Chiefs this year. But in the AFC Championship game against the Ravens, he was crucial.

By intercepting a throw intended for Isaiah Likely from Lamar Jackson, he prevented a touchdown. His pick-six ended the contest and advanced the Chiefs to the Super Bowl.

The Detroit Lions’ running back David Montgomery and cornerback Kindle Vildor, the San Francisco 49ers’ safety Tashaun Gipson Jr., the Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker Roquan Smith, and centre Sam Mustipher are the other Bears competing in the conference championships.
