Fans of Tennessee everywhere can now breathe a sigh of relief. Bru McCoy has formally declared that he will be staying at Rocky Top for another year in Tennessee. Bru McCoy has been a deadly weapon for the Volunteers over the past two seasons. Bru recorded 17 receptions, 1 score, and 217 yards in the previous season before suffering a terrible injury that prevented him from playing in 2023. The previous season, the Vol receiver played next to former 1000-yard receiver Cedric Tillman and winner of the Biletnikoff award Jalin Hyatt, and he had 52 receptions, four touchdowns, and 667 yards receiving.
Tennessee has discovered a few new dangers. Chris Brazzell, who declared on December 21st that he will be attending Tennessee, is one of the numerous threats that they added in the first half of the portal season. He had a fantastic season at Tulane and is an All-American freshman. 44 receptions for 711 yards and five touchdowns were his numbers. Additionally, Tennessee added Notre Dame’s Holden Stars, the top tight end according to the transfer portal.
For the Fighting Irish, Staes had 15 receptions for 176 yards and four touchdowns. They did a good job in recruiting as well, bringing in four-star Braylon Staley and five-star Mike Matthews. The wide receiver area will appear somewhat different overall, but it will also have a very commanding appearance.
Bru will now be catching passes for his third Volunteer quarterback, Nico Iamaleava, who is a true freshman today and a redshirt freshman in the future. Iamaleava said, “I’m trying to get Bru back,” during a media meeting prior to his bowl game appearance. “It’s huge, man,” he adds. A guy like that, in my opinion, will lead the receiving room when he returns. Even though we won’t be old enough to go back next year, I’m working on getting him back since it would be enormous for me. Nico will have a real outside target to pass the ball to in his first regular season as a starter, so it appears that he has got his dream.
