Since being fired by Nottingham Forest in December, Cooper has been without a job. Brighton could be the ideal place for him to pursue his dream of staying in the Premier League. The Seagulls have been thorough and focused in their search for De Zerbi’s replacement.
Initially, they were considering Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town, but McKenna’s new contract with the club extended until 2028, so he was taken out of the running. This has prompted Brighton to step up their pursuit of Cooper.
Following their respective relegations back to the Championship, Burnley and Sheffield United have also made pitches to Cooper. But for now, Brighton is still the Welshman’s favorite.
According to The Telegraph, Frank Lampard is currently the front-runner to take over Burnley’s vacant position, and Cooper has reportedly turned down offers from the Clarets.
Their most recent Europa League campaign, in which they advanced to the round of 16 before losing to Roma, highlights their potential and the possibilities for any new manager.
Cooper is an attractive possibility for Brighton because of his availability and desire to get back in the dugout. The Seagulls are eager to choose a manager who can carry on De Zerbi’s legacy and propel the team ahead.
