Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, had a disappointing Super Bowl loss and finished second in the award race in 2022, capping an MVP-caliber campaign. It was quite amazing for him to reach these heights in just his third season, so naturally, exceptions were through the roof as 2023 approached. Hurts and the Eagles began the season as though the responsibility of defending their NFC title hadn’t bothered them; instead, they let a 10-1 record elude them until a humiliating playoff defeat finally brought about what was inevitable.
Hurts’ figures were outstanding once more, but they only resulted in victories for fantasy football players. Even while it was difficult to overlook his inconsistency during the last stretch of the season, he isn’t entirely to blame for what was undoubtedly a team-wide collapse. But don’t tell that to Chris Simms, a former quarterback and NFL analyst. Simms gave another contentious statement that Eagles fans could find troubling when he referred to Hurts as “the most overrated player in football.” Simms is usually met with a lot of criticism and “crap” for his wild opinions.
Simms remarked, “I think Jalen Hurts is like the most overrated player in football, but I respect him a lot.” “That’s me, I know I’m wrong, I take a lot of crap about that comment.” Hurts’ inflated rushing touchdown totals may be cited by many detractors as the basis for his overrated status. Hurts produced a career-high 15 rushing scores last season, many of which came right at the goal line among a mass of bodies on a play that’s rarely considered glamorous, thanks to the contentious “Tush Push” controversy.
However, Simms believes it goes deeper than that, and he proposed a quarterback the Eagles may use instead of Hurts.
