The Los Angeles Rams went on a run late in the 2023 season to secure a spot in the NFL Playoffs, despite changing around the majority of the roster in the summer.
In Week 18, the Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers to end a 12-game losing run during the regular season and secure the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs. During Wild Card weekend, Los Angeles will travel to play the Detroit Lions in a primetime showdown full with intriguing storylines. In spite of the fact that they rested their most important veterans for the playoff game, Sean McVay announced that safety Jordan Fuller is considered day-to-day and that he is not sure if he will be able to suit up against the Lions. Fuller suffered an ankle injury against the 49ers in the first quarter of the game.”Yeah, same thing. They’ll be day-to-day. They can’t practice,” McVay said of Fuller and linebacker Troy Reeder. “Wednesday we’ll have a walkthrough so we’ll kind of just see what their status looks like. It was an ankle with Jordan and then it was a hyperextended knee with Troy. We’ll continue to just try to see…use all the time that we have. If not, then we’ll have contingency plans appropriately. Then it looks like (OL) Joe Noteboom is making good progress with his heel. Those will be the
Fuller has struggled with a number of ailments recently, including an ankle injury, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he missed this weekend’s game against Detroit. Russ Yeast filled in for him and produced some excellent tackles against the 49ers.
If Fuller is ultimately unable to play, Yeast is expected to start; however, the Rams are undoubtedly hoping that their captain of the secondary, Will Hurley, will be able to practise during the week. Even if Yeast is showing that he can fill in, Fuller would be a great addition given the Lions’ offensive style and arsenal.
What the Rams would be missing if Fuller couldn’t play was something McVay talked about.
“A guy with great range in his playing, and a communicator.” He has, in my opinion, made a number of smart plays when it matters most, but he has been a captain for a purpose. Coaches and players hold him in the highest regard, and he plays with a toughness that comes naturally to him. Therefore, it would be significant for us, but we hope we won’t need to proceed in that path just yet.
Sam LaPorta, a rookie tight end, may be out for Detroit after sustaining a knee injury during their victory over the Minnesota Vikings. LaPorta has a chance to play, according to Lions head coach Dan Campbell, but considering the nature of his injury, it appears probable he won’t.
Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Rams, is interviewing for head coaching jobs.
Defence coordinator Raheem Morris deserves recognition for his work with such a young defence, even if head coach Sean McVay has garnered a lot of accolades for his efforts this season.
Morris, who has established himself as one of the league’s top coordinators in recent years, is apparently getting another chance at head coaching after the Commanders asked to interview him for their open post. Morris appears to be a desirable commodity this season; the Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Panthers have also want to speak with him.
