The Ohio State men’s basketball team defeated Purdue big time on Sunday afternoon in their first game back following head coach Chris Holtmann’s firing.
It was clear that his time in Columbus had to end, even though he was respected much by his coaching colleagues. In less than a week, speculation about Holtmann’s destination started.
According to a Silver Bulletin article, Holtmann and DePaul have held initial discussions over their available head coaching position, suggesting that he might remain in the Midwest. Because he was the Butler head coach before accepting the Ohio State position, he is acquainted with the Big East.
It should come as no surprise that Holtmann would become the head coach of another school and get back on his feet. His career record of 251-170 demonstrates his strength as a coach, hence he does have a good resume.
