After being struck during the two-point conversion in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s 24-22 loss to the New York Giants, wide receiver Jayden Reed of the Green Bay Packers was assessed for a possible concussion. There are other wide receivers on the team besides Reed who are injured.
Against New York, Dontayvion Wicks sustained an ankle injury and Christian Watson is dealing with a hamstring injury. Jayden Reed only received 27 yards from eight receptions during Monday night’s game, averaging 3.4 yards per reception. In addition, he scored on four carries for 38 yards of rushes. Reed got 9.5 yards per carry on average.
This offense may be in trouble in a game they really need if Jayden Reed is unable to clear the concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams are 6-7; Tampa Bay is atop the NFC South division, while Green Bay is ranked seventh in the NFC.
For the Packers this season, Reed has proven to be the best rookie. Averaging 11.3 yards per reception, he has caught 48 passes for 540 yards receiving and five touchdowns. With 10.8 yards per carry and 119 yards rushing on 11 carries, Reed has scored two touchdowns.
It could not have come at a worse time for Green Bay to have an injury at wide receiver. Dontayvion Wicks has an ankle problem, and Christian Watson has been dealing with hamstring troubles the entire season. Three of the top four wide receivers on the roster are declared inactive if Reed and the other two were sidelined due to concussions against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
