For the Raiders, Russell Wilson should only be a backup option. He is 35 years old, and his playing is becoming worse. Simply put, what made him unique in his heyday isn’t there anymore.

Drafting a potential franchise quarterback should be the Raiders’ primary priority. The team would be able to improve other positions in free agency and have faith that the quarterback can become a star if they had a quarterback on a rookie deal.

Aidan O’Connell, a rookie selected in the fourth round, was thrown into a starting role this season and has had every chance to earn a shot at the starting position the following year. But at best, his play has been mediocre. In his ten games this season, he has thrown 10 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He has nine starts with a 4-5 record. Although O’Connell has a strong arm, his limited mobility has been a major problem.
