When the talented linebackers available in this year’s NFL draft gathered at their individual podiums to speak with groups of reporters for their planned fifteen minutes or so on Wednesday morning, Trotter, Jr. responded, “Yeah, I’ve talked to the Eagles.”

Everyone was present, starting with Howie Roseman and ending with Coach Nick Sirianni. They brought a lot of excitement and are great people. I felt very positive energy from them. What they’re doing with their club is something I truly admire. If they ended up choosing me, it would be a blessing to play for them.

Trotter, Jr., is ranked No. 22 in the first round on Thursday, April 25, but the Eagles will not select him. However, Trotter, Jr. might be headed home with three picks on Friday’s Day 2: Nos. 50 and 53; additionally, he could receive a compensatory pick on Saturday after the third round concludes and the fourth round gets underway.

According to NFLdraftscout.com, which ranks every player before the Combine, Trotter Jr. is placed second among inside linebackers, after Junior Colson of Michigan. Trotter Jr. is in 75th place.

He is ranked ahead of four outside linebackers: Chris Braswell (No. 39), Dallas Turner (No. 9) of Alabama, Edgerrin Cooper (No. 56) of Texas A&M, and Payton Wilson (No. 67) of North Carolina State.

He declared, “I think I have a lot of potential as a three-down linebacker.” “I have a lot of diversity in my game and a wide range of talent. I give a big up to a lot of the linebackers in this draft class. They’re excellent players and linebackers, and I’ve watched them play and really admire their style of play.

Fans of the Eagles who are older will recognise Trotter’s father, Jeremiah Trotter, Sr., who joined the team in the third round (at pick No. 72 overall) and spent eight excellent years playing for the Eagles.
