Padres ‘Listening To Trade Offers’ On Three Key Star Players This Winter

The San Diego Padres are looking to close in on the Los Angeles Dodgers, but they’re fighting quite an uphill battle in closing that gap. The Dodgers have already added Michael Conforto and Blake Snell while re-signing Blake Treinen. While Los Angeles has done this, San Diego hasn’t made the same meaningful moves.

While the Padres haven’t made a big move yet, they’re finding themselves mixed into rumors. They’re one of the six teams listed on Nolan Arenado’s trade wish list. San Diego could also trade away its own stars to acquire more talent.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Padres are willing to listen to trade offers for starting pitcher Dylan Cease and infielders Luis Arraez and Xander Bogaerts. All three of these star players should come with quite a bit of trade interest from around the league.

Bogaerts is the least likely to be moved because he’s under contract through 2033. Both Arraez and Cease are entering their walk years in 2025. The Padres will likely receive a bit of interest for each of the three stars, but trading them might not be as likely.

If there’s a contending team that’s willing to part ways with big leaguers to acquire the Padres stars, then we may see a deal come to fruition. But it’s not likely that San Diego moves two of these three names.

I could see a Cease trade end up happening if a team like the Baltimore Orioles are willing to part with a young big league position player.
