Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. Arrives Lakers Head Quarters For Official Contract Signing Worth An anonymous NBA general manager claims that the Los Angeles Lakers could make a trade to acquire Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. in order to improve next season. Porter made waves as a college standout playing for Missouri during the 2017–18 season, but a back injury cut his stint there and negatively impacted his stock for the 2018 NBA Draft.

Despite his baggage, the Denver Nuggets still selected him with the 14th overall pick in a class that included Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Jalen Brunson, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Porter never played in the same light as three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, despite showing glimpses of elite scoring ability throughout his time in Mile High City.

Nevertheless, even in that light, the 6’10” forward finished the previous season with 13.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists during Denver’s playoff run that culminated in the team’s first-ever championship.

However, Porter essentially had the same postseason performance this year. But the Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, eliminated them in the second round, raising concerns about the team’s roster structure. To increase their prospects of winning the title the next season, the front management could have to consider signing new players.

Porter’s listing on the market is one possibility Denver can consider. If they do, the Los Angeles Lakers need to acquire the forward in order to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign, according to an unnamed NBA general manager. In a Heavy piece written by Sean Deveney:
