Nico Iamaleava is ranked highly among QBs in the SEC…….
Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava checked in on the upper-half side of 247Sports’ SEC quarterback rankings.
The SEC entering the 2024 season boasts a wealth of talented quarterbacks; it projects as one of the better groups in the conference in a few years; the addition of Oklahoma and Texas has certainly changed the landscape. Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked the SEC starting quarterbacks 1-16 prior to the season; Iamaleava, the quarterback for Tennessee, is at the top of the list, having only seen one extended run, his masterful dismantling of the Iowa Hawkeyes in his one start. When discussing Iamaleava’s prospects going into his first season as a full-time starter, Crawford addressed the situation.
You either think Nico Iamaleava is a serious contender for the Heisman Trophy in 2024 or you’re going to wait and see how strong the SEC defence is. In his first significant action in his rookie season, he dissected Phil Parker’s premier team at Iowa, and it was enough footage for me. After a few erratic performances from Joe Milton in the early going, Josh Heupel actually had the option of handing the reins of Tennessee’s 2023 offence to his rookie, but he chose to protect the five-star’s redshirt instead, and this explosive passing game is now his.” – Brad Crawford of 247Sports on Nico Iamaleava.
