Michigan’s coach Makes a Brave Remark About a “Scary” Prospective QB in 2024

If Jim Harbaugh gets his wish, the Rose Bowl matchup between Michigan and Alabama in the future months may turn into more than just a postseason matchup. That is especially likely if he stays in Ann Arbour. It might be a sneak peek at what sophomore quarterback Alex Orji and Michigan football have in store for 2024.

This is due to the fact that Harbaugh’s observations on Jalen Milroe of Alabama and Orji, the backup quarterback for the Wolverines, are very similar. Should J.J. McCarthy follow through on his prediction and enter the NFL draft, Harbaugh believes Orji may be prepared to start as the starting quarterback the following season.

In an interview with C.J. Magnum of Blue by Ninety, Harbaugh discussed Orji in relation to Alabama’s Milroe, a strong candidate who came in fifth this year for the Heisman Trophy.

When asked about Milroe, Harbaugh remarked, “He is like a real polished Alex Orji,” according to Magnum.

Then, he was asked if he thought Orji would emerge as Michigan’s Milroe in the near future. “Yes, I do. Indeed, I do.

This season, Jim Harbaugh hasn’t used Orji all that much. Despite not throwing a pass this season (he did so as a freshman), he has played in four games, been deployed in wildcat formations, and gained 11 rushes for 69 yards. This season, he has scored one touchdown; the previous year, he scored two.

“I mean, we’re seeing right before our eyes with Alex Orji,” Harbaugh remarked. And the idea that Jalen Milroe might be just as athletic as Alex Orji worries me a little bit because, let’s face it, Alex is the most athletic and scary person on the squad. Well, that does seem a little unsettling.

“The Michigan football team is eager to let Alex go.” Depending on what JJ does, I believe he will be correct in the quarterback competition for the starting job next season. It’s entertaining to consider.
