Every year, Michigan hosts an awards luncheon to recognise the program’s standouts. This year, it takes place exactly two weeks before the College Football Playoff semifinal game versus Alabama. There aren’t many shocks, but it’s still interesting to see who is honoured for what. The whole press release is available to read below.
The College of Michigan Football Awards Show, presented by the U-M Club of Greater Detroit, was held at U-M’s Crisler Centre on Sunday evening (Dec. 17). During the occasion, team award winners were recognised, and senior student-athletes were honoured before getting their prized ‘M’ rings, among other honours.
Staff personnel who had served with Michigan Football for the requisite period of time (on-field coaches, five years; additional staff, ten years) were awarded with honorary ‘M’ rings for the first time.
Long-standing team awards, such as the Dierdorf-Hutchinson Award (formerly Hugh H. Rader Award) for the top offensive lineman, the Woodley-Graham Award (formerly Richard Katcher Award) for the top defensive lineman or outside linebacker, and the Humphries-Miller Scholarship Award (formerly Dr. Arthur D. Robinson Award) for the top senior student-athlete, were also presented for the first time under their new names.
