
At about 5 a.m., police were called to a break-and-enter in progress. The complainant woke up to the sound of someone leaving the residence. Several items were stolen, including a gaming console with controllers and a jacket containing vehicle and business keys, Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP said in a news release.
Police arrived shortly after 5 a.m. and were told the suspect was seen fleeing the area on a bicycle. Officers were able to determine the suspect’s identity, and they went to a residence linked to the man.
At about 6 a.m., Mason Schroth, 43, was arrested and charged with break and enter a dwelling and theft under $5,000. He has a May 13 court date in Collingwood.
Police recovered most of the stolen items, including the keys and the game controllers, but a Nintendo Wii gaming console that was stolen has not yet been recovered.
