Kyle Shanahan’s take on Deommodore Lenoir unduely dismissal

Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the 49ers, would have grinned broadly if you had told him that DK Metcalf would have been sent off in Week 14.

Shanahan allegedly showed the 49ers a video of Metcalf’s angry outbursts from this season, according to Michael Silver of The San Francisco Chronicle. This season, Metcalf has accrued 55 yards of penalties. You don’t have to play a game very far to figure out that he’s a bit of a hot head.

Shanahan stated in Silver’s article, “Christmas present for whoever gets him.” Fred Warner will receive something from Santa Claus for pressuring Metcalf into taking a penalty. Every time, the second person is apprehended. Regretfully, this also applied to Deommodore Lenoir.

Shanahan claimed that the referees informed him that D-Mo was ejected because Lenoir ultimately swung a punch. Following the game, Lenoir made contact with Shanahan. Here’s Kyle discussing it:

Yes, he did get in touch with me last night. He was already aware of our reactions to it. We have strong feelings about that. We will compete as physically as any team in this league, but we will never transcend the essence of football.

I adore how he has his guys’ backs and everything, but that’s not what we do; everyone else on our team has their backs as well. We don’t throw punches to get in trouble or, most definitely, to be kicked out. He was, therefore, deeply sorry for it, and I think that. It was a worthwhile lesson acquired. In the future, I believe he’ll be much better about that.
