Kieran McKenna breaks silence on Chelsea links after Pochettino sack - Vanguard News

The new contract for Town Manager Kieran McKenna is still being reviewed by the attorneys, and it is now anticipated that the arrangement will be finalized on Thursday.

While legal teams are still working through the finer points, it is understood that there is no panic following the agreement on a longer-term, more profitable deal.

The Blues manager was at Portman Road yesterday. A picture of him and his son playing football on the field went viral on social media, but it’s now thought that the boy has left for overseas.

For the majority of the past two weeks, there has been intense speculation about the Town manager’s future. Brighton was once thought to be his likely destination, but Chelsea and Manchester United have also held negotiations with his representation.

Enzo Maresca of Leicester was always Chelsea’s main priority, as was reported last Wednesday, even though the Italian is reportedly close to being installed at Stamford Bridge.

After the Red Devils defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, their management situation—Erik ten Hag is still in charge—is expected to remain unresolved for some time as they prepare for an end-of-season review.

Before Chelsea announced their interest in the Blues boss early last week, Brighton is said to have believed he was ready to join them.

We understand the Seagulls have given the Northern Irishman until this Wednesday to commit to moving to Sussex, as there was little progress in the following days and as the issue progressed.

However, McKenna ultimately favored staying at Portman Road, just as was the case with Crystal Palace when they expressed interest in February—a switch that it has now been revealed was closer than it appeared at the time.

The CEO of ORG, a US investment firm that manages funds on behalf of the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), the club’s majority owner, Ed Schwartz, flew over from the States to hold talks with CEO Mark Ashton and McKenna, while the speculation about the other clubs continued unabated. The Blues made every effort to hold onto their manager.

Those negotiations were clearly successful, and Town supporters can rest easy knowing that their talisman manager will still be in charge when the team returns to the Premier League in August following a 22-year absence.
