Just Now: Michigan Mega Star Goodwin Makes A Surprise Return

Coach Chad Grier noticed a group of underclassmen practicing for the upcoming season through the window of his school office shortly after Providence Day of Charlotte, North Carolina, won its third consecutive N.C. Independent Schools state championship last month.

When he noticed a 6-foot-1, 180-pound man tearing through them, he did a double take. It turned out that Channing Goodwin, a three-star recruit to Michigan, was a senior wide receiver who was putting in additional work before he signed a national letter of intent with the Wolverines on Wednesday and enrolled early.

Posted on 247 Sports’ YouTube channel on Sunday afternoon, Channing Goodwin, a three-star class of 2024 wide receiver and U-M heritage whose father Jonathan Goodwin (1998–2001) played offensive line for the Wolverines, confirmed his commitment.

As they prepare for their senior season, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound pass-catcher from Providence Day in Charlotte, North Carolina, teams up with five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, a fellow Michigan pledge.

Goodwin is the first wide receiver to enter Ron Bellamy’s room in the cycle, despite being the 16th commit in Michigan’s 2024 class, which leads the country.

Goodwin, ranked as the No. 511 prospect in the country, choose U-M over many other schools, including Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, and North Carolina.
