The last weekend of the 2023 NFL regular season is approaching, and all the major players in the league are filling their notepads with sourced rumours and news.

After today’s games, we’ll know more, and Black Monday will undoubtedly reveal more details, but one coaching domino has already fallen. Ron Rivera, the head coach of the Washington Commanders, is set to be fired on Monday, according to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.

Additionally, according to Rapoport, the Chicago Bears have not decided what to do with quarterback Justin Fields. Though it won’t depend on the result of the game, defeating the Green Bay Packers today would “go a long way towards staking his claim to be their franchise quarterback.” The Bears and general manager Ryan Poles will weigh the contract and draft pick windfall that comes with trading the first overall pick when making their decision.

The Bears and Eberflus have a position that is “leaning safe” for him to return, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team has “played well, they have draft capital,” and “the players like playing for him.”

It comes as no surprise that Jim Harbaugh is making headlines in the NFL. Although most insiders rank the Chargers and Raiders as the top two teams, the Bears are also frequently mentioned.
