The Chicago Cubs will allegedly face competition from two teams for the services of former MVP Cody Bellinger. Despite the arrival of Jung-Hoo Lee, the San Francisco Giants are seen as a serious contender for Bellinger.
The Giants don’t have much offence, and while they need pitching help, signing the slugger might be a priority as well.

“Two of Bellinger’s early suitors have already added outfielders, potentially removing themselves from contention.” The Yankees, who have acquired Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Trent Grisham in trades, are no longer interested in Bellinger. Nonetheless, the Giants, who signed Jung Hoo Lee, could still make a move for him.”
If the Cubs want to re-sign Bellinger, they must be proactive. They can’t keep hoping to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto or strike a trade for a star-level player. Bellinger was a key component of their offence last season and has yet to be replaced this offseason.

The Giants’ outfield may appear packed to some, but Feinsand argues that they would welcome Bellinger’s versatility.
“Even with Lee, Mitch Haniger and Michael Conforto pencilled in as their starting outfield, the Giants could still use Bellinger, who could rotate between first base and the outfield, allowing manager Bob Melvin to use multiple players in the DH spot.”
Bellinger grew up on the West Coast and may be interested in returning if Chicago does not provide him the money he seeks.
