A small taste of what it would be like to have their great prospect on the roster of the Chicago Cubs was given to them.
Pete Crow-Armstrong was the Cubs’ sixth overall prospect in 2022 and jumped to the top of the rankings in 2023 after being acquired in a trade that brought Trevor Williams and Javier Baez to the New York Mets.
As he made his debut in September 2023, both the organisation and his admirers were eager to see what he looked like in Chicago. Even though Crow-Armstrong demonstrated his outstanding defence, his at-bat offensive difficulties were so alarming that it may keep him off the Opening Day roster in 2024.
The Cubs will not push him if they don’t think he’s ready and don’t want to push him into a centre fielding duty on a regular basis. It appears from his 0–14 record in 19 plate appearances that he isn’t.
Crow-Armstrong talked about his strategy for enhancing his offensive performance and why he believes it will happen organically, just like it did for him in the minor levels.
Before you meet a guy, you’ll get to know more about them. I’ll recall the appearance of some guys. Some guys I’ll get along with a lot while others will be more of a difficulty. It doesn’t really change all that much, in my opinion. “I believe acknowledging that will hopefully put me back on that trajectory,” he said to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian.
The 21-year-old is aware that Major League Baseball is a different level from anything he has ever played on, so he will need to keep developing.
