Sherrone Moore was formally presented as the new head football coach of Michigan on Saturday, following Jim Harbaugh’s departure for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Moore performed admirably in his impromptu interview for the position, according to athletic director Warde Manuel. Moore covered for Jim Harbaugh for four games while he was suspended by the Big Ten and Michigan. Moore declared that despite taking over for Harbaugh, he will not attempt to adopt his leadership style.

Nonetheless, the programme hopes to honour Harbaugh’s legacy in Ann Arbour as Michigan enters a new era. Manuel thanked the former Michigan quarterback for his nine years as head coach and mentioned that, if the Chargers’ schedule permits it, he and Moore would like to invite Harbaugh back as an honorary captain for a game the following season.

“Sherrone and I would like to have him come back as a captain for the game this year if the byes work out and as he says, take a long and slow bow in front of all the fans,” Manuel stated, provided the timing was right.
